We began this journey in 1979 when we started making small craft items and sold them at local markets under the name The Angel’s Attic. That grew over the next 15 years and we participated in all the major craft shows in Western Canada including Festival of Crafts, Our Best To You, Fall Into Christmas etc. Our whole family was involved, even when our three children were young they helped gather pinecones for baskets and attended many shows to help with set up and take down.
In 2004 we began to transition out of hand crafts to a buy and sell mode wherein we participated in trade shows instead of craft shows and the Cowboy’s Cellar was born. The following years saw us attend shows from Vancouver B.C. to Brandon, Manitoba and Lethbridge to Fort McMurray in Alberta. We primarily catered to rural customers attending Rodeos and Chuckwagon events. Some of these included Calgary Stampede, Canadian Finals Rodeo, Agribition, Ponoka Stampede, Alberta Barrel Racing Association Finals and many more. Our product line included Painted Ponies, Cowboy Hardware Clothing, ML Kids, Simply Noel, and many others.
We found our greatest success at the annual Spruce Meadows Christmas Market which we have attended for the past 19 years. We started in a 10 by 10 booth and worked our way up to two small building totalling over 1500 square feet. We expanded our product line to include Jim Shore Collectables and Lazy One pyjamas.
Our now grown Children, their spouses and our five grandchildren all still help whenever we are in need.
Now 2020 and Covid 19 has come along and all our shows have been cancelled. This has pushed us out of our comfort zone and we are starting a new journey with on-line sales. We are very excited and a bit nervous. We hope you will join us in our new endeavour.
